Tidal water is defined as any coastal body of water (including oceans, seas, bays, and rivers) that rises and falls in a predictable rhythm due to the gravitational pull of the moon and sun. Much like tidal water, our mental health ebbs and flows in response to a variety of lifestyle factors and circumstances. Just as the ocean tides rise and fall each day, Tidewater Counseling stands reliably and predictably with you as life’s difficulties come and go.
Ocean tides serve as a powerful analogy for Tidewater’s approach to anxiety recovery. As one watches the ocean recede from the shore as low tide approaches, there is typically no action that feels necessary - we are bystanders in a gravitational process much larger than ourselves, and we do not attempt to control it. Years of lived experience and clinical expertise have led Emma to believe that the most effective approach to anxiety recovery is to take on this same role of observer, allowing anxious feelings to flow in and out with the same confidence one has in the tides receding and returning. Anxious feelings are temporary - it is our engagement with them and the belief that we must control them that often keeps us stuck in the cycle. Emma will help you learn how to ride out the tides of anxious feelings, obsessive thoughts, and physical symptoms, ultimately building confidence in your ability to let them pass and trust that they will.

The holistic referral network includes psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, dietitians, and other medical professionals that may be able to assist in providing supplemental care or services to Tidewater clients.
These supplemental services often include medication, supplement, and/or nutrition management for clients looking to address their physical health in tandem with their mental health.
Each provider in Tidewater’s referral network is known and trusted to provide genuine, empathetic medical care.
For clients interested in working with one or more medical providers listed in the holistic referral network, Release of Information (ROI) consent forms may be signed to allow Emma to coordinate care with outside medical providers. Signing an ROI is entirely optional, and only suggested for clients interested in receiving collaborative care between providers.
Please note: None of the providers in the holistic referral network are formally affiliated with Tidewater Counseling. When a referral is made to an outside medical provider, care, scheduling, and billing will be handled solely by that provider and/or their external practice.
